Business Problem
This U.S. banking client wanted to build a well-defined dashboard for their C-suite as a part of their DSS enhancement. To achieve the client required business process consulting to review, analyze, and recommend the required KPIs and dashboards. As a part of the engagement, the existing data assets and business intelligence reporting required evaluation for sufficiency and GAP analysis to meet the objectives.
Outcome
12 tiered management dashboards created from newly designed data feeds to Tableau. Leadership teams now have aligned KPIs that are available for immediate decisioning.
Challenges
- The business was unable to utilize the existing data assets due to lack of skillsets in the business.
- The existing dashboards were insufficient for the C-suite and were impacting decision making timeliness and quality.
- The developed BI assets were based on ad-hoc requirements and did not have a full-view of the organizational data requirements.
- Data performance and availability review had to be done on the existing infrastructure.
Solutions
- A complete study of the existing infrastructure was done: Organizational goals, target measures, and data GAP analysis.
- Recommended the list of KPIs based on the C-suite requirements along with their derivations (KPI hierarchy).
- A study of existing tableau dashboards was done.
- Modifications to the existing dashboards and list of new dashboards to be developed, were documented.
- Coordinated with customer DW & ETL teams to make data feed changes as needed for recommended dashboards.
- Tableau reports/dashboards were developed and delivered as required.
Technical Environment
- Tableau
Results
- More than 30% timing improvement impact on C-suite decision making due to data availability and tiered metrics.
- Business performance improvement to stated KPIs = 37%.
